Accompanist

Beth Worth: Accompanist

Beth grew up in Walsall, West Midlands and learnt to play the piano from the age of 7 working through music grades before furthering her piano qualifications at university with a diploma as well as completing a teaching degree which focussed on teaching music in Primary schools, which was a passion throughout her teaching career.

One of her joys has been to accompany children through musicals such as Cats, Joseph and The Wizard of Oz.  She encouraged her two daughters to play various instruments and is proud that her grandson is now learning to play four instruments!

Marrying and moving to Cornwall in 1996, Beth pursued her career in teaching as deputy and then as head, loving to see and extend the musical potential in every child, considering it most important that all children should be involved in productions whether singing, dancing or with some other minor part.

Beth retired from teaching in 2013 and this was when she felt able to devote even more time to her passion in music.  She joined Whitsand Harmony in 2014 as an alto and was soon co-opted as assistant accompanist, before taking on the accompanist's role last year.

Beth's ethos is encouragement to all who want to sing, and this falls in nicely with Whitsand Harmony.  Beth says 'Whitsand Harmony are an amazing group of people who support each other, and create a strong community spirit integral to the choir.'

Last year Beth was also elected Chair of the choir, another role for which she is ideally suited.
